Lobia/Chawli or Black eyed beans stir-fry recipe

Ingredients : 
  • 1 cup black-eyed beans, soaked 3-4 hours or overnight 
  • 1 onion finely chopped 
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder 
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 1/4 tsp pepper powder 
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flacks or chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • few curry leaves 
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • salt to taste 
  • 1 tbsp oil 
  • 2 tbsp lime juice or tamarind pulp for sourness 
  • 1 tbsp roasted sesame seeds for garnishing 
Method :
Boil the Lobia or black-eyed beans up to 2 whistles in the pressure cooker with water. Drain and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds. When it starts to crackle, add onion, green chilies and curry leaves, saute for a minute. Now add boiled Lobia and stir them. Now add all spices powder and salt. Mix well and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add lemon juice or tamarind pulp. Mix well. Turn off the flame. Garnish with roasted sesame seeds. Serve it with chapatis, paratha.
