Poha (Beaten Rice) and flax seeds healthy Idli recipe

Ingredients :
  • 1/2 cup poha (beaten rice)
  • 1 tbs flax seeds powder 
  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 1/2 cup mixed dal (Urad dal, toovar dal, chana dal, masoor dal and moong dal)
  • 1 tbsp fenugreek seeds (Methi dana)
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda or cooking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt 

Method :

Wash and soak rice with mixed dal and fenugreek seeds overnight. Grind it to a fine paste as you would make regular idli. And keep it for fermentation.

Now wash beaten rice in a separate bowl and keep it for 5-10 minutes. When idli batter ferments, add mashed beaten rice, flax seeds powder, salt, and cooking soda. Blend it and make a smooth batter.

Pour idli batter into the greased idli molds and steam for 7-8 minutes or till they are done. Serve it with coconut chutney or your favorite chutney and sambar.
