Stuffed chilli pakoda recipe



Ingredients :

  • 5-6 large green chillies 
  • 1 medium-sized potato, boiled, peeled and mashed or grated 
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped 
  • salt to taste 
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder 
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds 
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice 
  • Oil for deep frying 
For the batter, 
  • 1/2 cup gram flour(Besan)
  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt 
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda 
  • About 1/2 cup of water
Method :
Slit the chillies lengthwise and remove the seeds.
In a bowl, add the mashed potato, salt, onion, chaat masala, cumin powder, fennel seeds, and lemon juice. Mix well. Now divide this into 5-6 equal portions. Fill the potato filling into the cavities of the green chillies. Press them close. In a big bowl, add gram flour, salt, red chilli powder, baking soda. Mix them. Add water slowly-slowly to make a thick and smooth batter. Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Dip the stuffed green chillies in the gram flour batter and deep-fry until the golden brown color and crisp on the outside. Serve it hot with any sauce or chutney.
