Ingredients :
- 250 gm. cottage cheese, cut into cubes(paneer)
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 2 tbsp tomato puree
- 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- salt to taste
- a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- 1 bay life
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 5-6 peppercorn
- 1 green cardamom
- 2 cloves
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- 1 cup of water
- 2 tbsp ghee or oil
Method :
Heat 1 tbsp ghee or oil in a pan, add paneer and fry for about 2-3 minutes. Remove them on a plate. In a big bowl, add ginger paste, salt and allspice powder. Mix well with a spoon. Add fried paneer and mix them, keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.
Heat the remaining ghee or oil in another pan, add bay leaf, cumin seeds, cloves, cardamom, peppercorn, cinnamon and asafoetida, crackle them. Add tomato puree and saute for 1 minute on the medium flame. Add the marinated paneer pieces, give it a quick stir and then add a cup of water. Now cook on low flame for about 5 minutes. Turn off the flame.You can, garnish with coriander leaves. Serve it with rice, puri, paratha etc.
