Besan wali simla mirch (gram flour capsicum) ki sabzi recipe

Ingredients :
  • 2 big capsicum, chopped and deseeded 
  • 1 onion, chopped 
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1/2 cup gram flour (Besan)
  • few curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice 
  • salt to taste 
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds  
  • 1 pinch of asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds 
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder 
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp dry mango powder (Amchur powder)
  • 2-3 tbsp oil 
  • chopped coriander leaves for garnishing 
Method : 

Heat a pan, add gram flour and dry roast it on low flame for 2-3 minutes. Keep on stirring while roasting so that besan does not get burnt. Don't roast besan for a longer time as it gets bitter so roast it till you get a nice aroma. Remove from the heat and transfer to a plate and keep aside.

Wash capsicum, deseed it and cut into small pieces. Heat oil in a pan, add all seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves and once they start to crackle add green chilli and onion, saute for 1 minute on medium flame. Add chopped capsicum with salt and stir them, saute for 1 minute on medium flame. Add all spices and saute for few seconds. Now add roasted gram flour or Besan. Mix well, cook for 2-3 minutes. Add amchur or dry mango powder and lemon juice. Mix well. Turn off the flame. Garnishing with coriander leaves. Serve it with chapati, paratha etc.
