Masala bhindi (Ladyfingers) recipe

Ingredients :

  • 1/2 kg. Ladyfingers (Bhindi)
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil or vegetable oil 
  • 1 medium sized onion, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder 
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp dried mango powder (Amchur)
  • salt to taste 
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice 

Method :

Wash bhindi and dry it with a towel. Remove the stem and cut along the length of the bhindi. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, fennel seeds and mustard seeds. After few seconds, add chopped onion and saute till light golden colour. Now, add bhindi and saute for 1 minute. Add salt, coriander, turmeric, red chilli and cumin powders. Mix well. Cook covered over low heat stirring occasionally. Add the amchur powder, mix well. When the bhindi is almost cooked, increase the heat and cook for 2 minutes. Turn off the flame. Sprinkle the lemon juice. Serve it with paratha, chapati, rice.
