How To Make Instant Chana Dal Sattu recipe At Home Easily

Chana Sattu is a very healthy and a very delicious drink used to beat the heat in the summer season. Made from powdering roasted gram flour, chana sattu is immensely popular in the Indian states of Bihar, U.P., Punjab, and West Bengal. Using sattu, you can also make sattu-filled paratha and the very popular litti-chokha at home.

Ingredients For Sattu:
  • 2 cups chana dal 
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds (optional for taste)
Ingredients for a glass of sattu drink: 
  • 1 glass of water
  • 2 tbsp chana dal sattu 
  • black salt to taste or sea salt 
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
Method :

For Sattu Powder-

Take chana dal and wash it thoroughly. Drain water. On a large cotton cloth spread the chana dal like shown in the picture and allow it to dry in sunlight or under a fan for 7-8 hours. Now put the dried dal into a heavy bottomed pan and roast it on medium to low flame. The colour of the dal should change into light brown. Now add cumin seeds and roast again for 1 minute. Turn off the flame. Allow it to cool down. Grind it into a fine powder in a mixer-grinder and sieve it properly. Store in an airtight jar.

For Sattu drink-

Take half glass chilled water, add chana sattu, salt, lemon juice, and mix well. Add more water as per requirement and mix again. Your sattu drink is ready!
