Baigan (Brinjal or eggplant) tikka recipe





Ingredients :
  • 3-4 pieces, medium sized brinjal 
  • 1/2 cup curd (Dahi)
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder 
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala powder 
  • 1 tsp coriander powder 
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 1 pinch of asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder 
  • salt to taste 
  • 2 tbsp oil for shallow frying 
Method :

Remove the brinjal top. Cut the brinjals lengthwise into (as shown in the picture above) and check them properly for worms. Wash and soak them in salted water for 5-7 minutes. Now wash again and drain well. Combine all ingredients, add in a big bowl. Mix well. Let it marinate for 10 minutes. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a tawa or pan,  put the marinated brinjal and cover with a lid. Cook on high heat for 1 minute. After a minute, open the lid and flip brinjal pieces and again cover the pan and cook again fr a minute. After a minute, open lid, add 1 tbsp oil and shallow fry on both sides. Cook the brinjal on the low flame. Check whether the brinjal is soft. Remove in a plate. Serve this dish hot.
