Whole-Wheat Butter-Garlic Naan In Tawa Recipe

Ingredients :
  • 2 cups Whole wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup curd
  • 1 tbsp garlic, grated or paste
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • warm water as needed
  • Nigella seeds or onion seeds (kalonji) or sesame seeds as needed
  • Butter for naan
Method :

In a big bowl, add curd, sugar and salt. Mix them. Add in wheat flour, all-purpose flour, butter, garlic, baking powder and baking soda. Mix well to form a dough. Add warm water if needed and make a smooth dough. Cover and set aside for 1 hour. Divide the dough into equal balls. Take a ball on a rolling board. Roll it into slightly thick naan bread. Place the naan bread over a hot tawa, sprinkle some sesame seeds or nigella seeds and stick them to the naan bread and cook till you see the bubble forming on the top surface. Flip it over and cook for few seconds. Now invert the sesame and nigella seeds side over the hot open flame and toast it till it gets lightly charred marks. Remove it to a plate. Apply some butter over it. Serve it hot with dal makhani or any gravy vegetables.
