Shalgam (Turnip) ki stir-fry sabzi recipe




Ingredients :

  • 1/2 kg. Turnip, wash and cut into thinly sliced 
  • 1 onion, chopped 
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder 
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala powder 
  • salt to taste 
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp fennel seeds
  • a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • 1 bay leaf 
  • 1 tbsp oil 

Method : 
Heat oil in a pan, add cumin, fennel seeds, hing and bay leaf and crackle them. Now, add onion and saute for 1 minute. Add turnip and salt. Cover with a lid and cook for 1-2 minutes on medium flame. After a minute, add all spices and mix well, saute for 5-7 minutes. Cook till they become soft. Turn off the flame. Serve it with paratha, chapati and rice.
