Palak-mutter-malai recipe




Ingredients :
  • 1 bunch of spinach (palak)
  • 1 cup green peas (mutter)
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli 
  • 1 tsp garlic-ginger paste 
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 
  • salt to taste 
  • 2 cloves 
  • 1 green cardamom 
  • 1 star-anise 
  • 1 small cinnamon stick 
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 4 tbsp fresh cream 
Method :
Clean and wash spinach leaves properly and cut them . Boil the spinach for 5-7 minutes in a little amount of water. Allow to cool for some 10 minutes. Now grind the cooled spinach to a fine paste.
Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, bay leaf, whole spices and onion, saute for 1 minute. Add green chilli, garlic-ginger paste, red chilli and turmeric powder, saute for 1 minute. Add chopped tomato and salt, cook for 2-3 minutes. Add green peas and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame. Add spinach paste and mix well, cook for 1-2 minutes. Add fresh cream and mix well. Turn off the flame.
Transfer in a serving bowl and garnish with a tbsp cream. Serve it with paratha, chapati, puri.
