Methi-mutter-malai recipe



Ingredients :
  • 1 bunch of fresh fenugreek leaves (Methi patta), tough stems removed, washed, then finely chopped 
  • 1 cup green peas (hari mutter) 
  • 1/2 cup tomato puree
  • 1 green chilli+4 garlic cloves+small ginger piece, paste 
  • 1 onion, chopped 
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 green cardamom
  • 1 small stick of cinnamon 
  • 1-star anise 
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 
  • 1 pinch of turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste 
  • 1/2 cup of fresh cream 
Method :
Heat oil in a pan, add whole spices and onion, saute for 1 minute. Add green chilli, garlic and ginger paste , turmeric, red chilli powder and salt, saute for 2 minutes. Now add fenugreek leaves and green peas, saute for 5 minutes. Add tomato puree and mix well. Cover with a lid and let the methi cook on medium flame for another 10-12 minutes until tender. Add fresh cream and mix well. Turn off the flame. Garnish with cream and serve it with paratha, chapati, puri.
