Black eyed beans (chawli) ki sabzi recipe





Ingredients :
  • 1 cup black-eyed beans, soaked 3-4 hours or overnight 
  • 1/2 cup tomato puree
  • 1 onion chopped 
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic past 
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder 
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 1/4 tsp pepper powder 
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • few curry leaves 
  • salt to taste 
  • 2 tbsp oil 
  • 2 tbsp lime juice 
  • coriander leaves for garnishing 

Method :
Boil the soaked black eyed beans up to 2-3 whistles in pressure cooker with 2 cups water. Drain and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard and cumin seeds. When they start to crackle, add onion and curry leaves, saute for 1 minute. Add garlic-ginger paste and saute for few seconds. Add tomato puree, salt and all spices. And saute for 2 minutes on medium flame. Add black eyed beans and mix well. Add 1/2 cup water and cook for 2 minutes. Turn off flame and mix lemon juice. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve it with paratha, chapati etc.
