Vermicelli or semiya upma recipe






Ingredients :
  • 1 cup vermicelli 
  • 1 cup mix vegetables chopped (cauliflower, carrot, beans, capsicum)
  • 1 chopped tomato 
  • 2 green chillies chopped 
  • few curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • a pinch of asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1 tsp white urad daal
  •  1 tsp sambhar masala
  • 2 tbsp oil 
  • 1/2 tsp sugar 
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 8-10 fried cashew nuts and almonds for garnish 
  • 2 cup of water 
Method :
Heat oil in a pan, add urad daal, mustard seeds, hing and crackle them. Now, add curry leaves, green chillies and add mix vegetables and saute for 1 minute. Now, add vermicelli and roast for 2 minutes on medium flame. Add water, chopped tomato, salt, sugar, sambhar masala powder and mix them. Cover with lid and let it cook for 1-2 minutes on medium flame. Now, cook again 1 minute, uncovered pan. Turn off the flame. Add lime juice and mix well. Garnish with roasted almonds and cashew. Serve it hot.
