Tawa paneer tikka masala (spicy cottage cheese) recipe



Ingredients :
For paneer tikka,
  • 1 cup cottage cheese (paneer) cubes 
  • 4 tbsp yoghurt or curd 
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder 
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala or paneer tikka masala
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala 
  • 1 tbsp dried fenugreek leaves (kasoori methi) or fresh leaves 
  • 1/4 tsp salt 
  • 1 tbsp oil for shallow frying 
For masala,
  • 1 big tomato, finely chopped 
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp carom seeds
  • 1 onion, finely chopped 
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 2 green chillies, chopped 
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste 
  • salt to taste 
  • 2 tbsp oil 
  • 1 tbsp fresh cream 
Method :

For paneer tikka,
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, mix well and keep aside to marinate 15-20 minutes. Now heat a tawa and add oil and shallow fry the masala marinated paneer on both sides and remove.

For masala,
Heat oil in a pan, add cumin and carom seeds. After few seconds, add onion and green chilli and saute for 1 minute. Add tomato, ginger-garlic paste, salt and all spices, saute for 5 minutes on medium flame. Add tomato sauce and mix them. Add paneer tikka and 4 tbsp water, stir for 1-2 minutes on the low flame. Mix fresh cream and switch off. Transfer to a serving plate or bowl. Serve it with paratha, chapati, or pulao.
