Sweet potato(shakarkand) ki sabzi recipe




Ingredients :
For sabzi,
  • 1/2 Kg. sweet potato
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 bay leaf 
  • 2 green chillies 
  • 3 tbsps tamarind pulp or 2 chopped tomatoes
  • salt to taste  
For masala paste, 
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp mustard seeds 
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder 
Method :
Wash and trim the ends of sweet potatoes, cut it and make medium pieces.
Make masala paste,
in a blender, add all masala ingredients and make a fine paste. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, add mustard and cumin seeds, bay leaf and crackle them. Add sweet potatoes, green chillies and salt and mix well. Cover and cook on low flame for 1-2 minutes. Add masala paste and mix well, saute for 5 minutes on the medium flame. Add tamarind pulp or tomatoes and 1/2 bowl water and mix them. Cover and cook medium flame for 5-7 minutes. Switch off the flame. Serve it with chapatis or rice.
