Mangalore Bonda recipe

 Ingredients :
  • 1 cups Urad dal 
  •  2 tbsp rice flour 
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped 
  • 1 tsp ginger, finely chopped 
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds 
  • 3 tbsp coconut, grated or finely chopped 
  • few curry leaves, chopped 
  • 2 pinches of asafoetida (Hing)
  • salt to taste 
  • Oil for deep frying 
Methode : 
Soak Urad dal for or 4-5 hour or overnight in enough water. After thoroughly soaked, drain urad dal. Now in a mixer, grind the lentils till it forms a smooth and fluffy paste, adding very little water.  Now transfer in a big bowl, mix in all ingredients, except oil. Heat oil in a frying pan, take a lemon size quantity of the mixture and make it a round shape on your palms and slid these gently into the oil. Fry on medium flame till the bondas are golden in colour and crisp. Remove the Manglore Bonda from the oil and put it on the kitchen towels. Serve it with coconut chutney, onion-tomato and peanut chutney.
