Chana dal (Bengal gram) aur pyaz(Onion) pakore ki sabzi recipe




Ingredients :

For pakoda,

  • 1 cup bengal gram (chana dal) 
  • 2 big onions, chopped
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Oil for deep frying
For gravy, 
  • 1/2 cup onion paste 
  • 1 tbsp garlic-ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder 
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • salt to taste 
  • 2 tbsp oil 
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • few curry leaves
  • fresh coriander leaves for garnishing 

Method :
Soak the chana dal for at least 5-6 hours or overnight. Make a paste in a blender. In a mixing bowl, add chana dal paste, salt, green chilli, chopped onion and mix well. Heat oil in a deep fry pan, take onion mixture according to a small ball and shape into flat round and drop in the oil. When the pakoras are golden brown colour, drain them on a plate and keep aside. Heat 2 tbsp oil in pan, add, cumin seeds, onion and curry leaves. After few seconds, add garlic-ginger, onion paste and saute for 1 minute on medium flame. Now, add salt and all spices powder and stir for again 1 minute. Add 1-2 bowls water and bring it to a boil and add fried onion pakoras and cook for 5-8 minutes on the high flame. Turn off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with Rice, roti.
