Delicious Bharwa mirchi with gravy (stuffed green chillies curry) recipe



Ingredients :

For stuffing,
  • 6 big green chillies (Jalapenos)
  • 1 big potato, peeled and mashed 
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder 
  • A pinch of turmeric powder 
  • 1 tbsp oil 
  • 1/4 tsp mustard, fennel seeds and cumin seeds mix
  • 1 tbsp cashew nuts (kaju) finely chopped 
  • 1 tbsp raisin (kismis)
  • 1 tbsp oil for frying 
For gravy,
  • 1 glass coconut milk 
  • 4 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 onion chopped 
  • A pinch mustard seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • salt to taste 
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 
  • A pinch of garam masala powder
  • 1 tbsp oil

Method :
Wash and dry the green chillies (jalapenos). Now slit the green chillies and remove all seeds and keep it aside.

For stuffing,
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan, add mustard, cumin, fennel seeds and crackle them. Now add onion and saute for few seconds. Add mashed potato, salt, turmeric, red chilli powder and saute for 1 minute. Remove it from the flame and add chopped cashew, raisin and mix them.

Now, take a slit green chilli and stuff it with the potato filling. Repeat the same for rest of the green chillies. Now heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan, place the stuffed chillies in the pan and shallow fry. Remove it and keep aside.

For gravy,
Now heat 1 tbsp oil in the same pan, add mustard, asafoetida and crackle them. Add chopped onion and saute for 1 minute on medium flame. Now, add tomato puree, all spices powder, sugar, salt and saute for 1 minute on medium flame. Add coconut milk and mix well. When gravy is about to boil, add stuffed shallow fried green chillies and cook for about 5 minutes on medium flame. Turn off the flame. Serve it with roti, chawal, paratha. It tastes yummy and delicious.
