Gujrati Fafda recipe

Ingredients :
  • 1 bowl gram flour (Besan)
  • 2-3 tbsp oil
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 1/4 tsp carom seeds powder (ajwain powder)
  • 1/4 tsp onion seeds powder (kalounji powder)
  • a pinch of asafoetida (Hing)
  • salt to taste 
  • water as require 
  • oil for frying 

Combine all ingredients in a big plate or bowl and mix well. Now, Knead smooth and soft dough by adding water. Carefully add water don't add more otherwise dough is sticky. Now take a sevai machine, fit mold for fafda and grease its entire inner surface with oil and fill it with prepared dough. Close its lid tightly and get all fafda strip from them. Heat oil in a deep frying pan on medium to low flame. Now, add 5-6 fafda strip in the pan and fry to both sides for around two to 1-2 minutes or until turn light brown in colour on medium flame. Now, drain on paper towel. Serve it hot or cool with any sweet or sour chutney.
