Sukha chana masala (black chickpea stir-fry) recipe



Sukha chana 




Ingredients :

  • 1 cup black chickpea ( kala chana)
  • 1 onion chopped 
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 
  • 1/4 tsp onion seeds (kalounji)
  • 2 green chillies chopped 
  • few curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste 
  • 1/2 tsp sugar 
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder 
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder 
  • 1/2 tsp dried mangoes powder (Aamchur powder)
Method :
Soak chana for 5-6 hours. In a pressure cooker, add soak chana, 1/2 tsp salt, 2 cups of water and close the lid of pressure cooker. Now cook till 2-3 whistles and let the cooker cool down.  Now drain all of water and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin, mustard seeds, onion seeds and crackle them. Now add onion, green chillies, curry leaves and saote for 1 minute. Now add boiled chana, salt, sugar, coriander, turmeric, red chilli, garam masala, black pepper powder and soate for 2 minutes on the medium flame. Now add dried mangoes (Aamchur ) powder and mix well and turn off the flame. Serve with roti, puri, parantha.
