Mix daal masala dosa (A healthy Dosa) recipe


Ingredients :

For dosa batter,
  • 1 cup rice
  • 2 tbsp Urad dal
  • 2 tbsp chana dal
  • 2 tbsp masoor dal
  • 2 tbsp moong dal
  • 1/2 tsp salt
For the topping,
  • 1 cup cabbage finely chopped
  • 4 potatoes boiled, peeled and mashed 
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2-3 green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 tomato finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp mustard seeds
  • few curry leaves
  • 1 tsp white urad dal
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp amchur (Dried mango) powder
  • 1 tbsp sambhar masala or 1/4 tsp garam masala 
  • 1 cup of tomato-onion chutney for the topping
  • oil or butter for dosa
Method :
Firstly for mix dal dosa. Mix rice and all dal wash them with water 2 times. Now soak them in water for 4-5 hours or overnight. Now drain water and grind in the mixture to a very fine paste. Now add, salt and needed of water and mix well and keep aside. Now, make topping for dosa,
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, Urad dal and crackle them. Now add, onion, green chillies and curry leaves and saute for few sec. Add cabbage, tomato, salt and saute for 1 minute. Now add mashed potatoes and Sambhar masala or 1/4 tsp garam masala, amchur powder and stir for 1 minute and remove from the heat. Now make masala dosa, Heat a non-stick tava over medium- high flame. Now sprinkle few drops of water to check whether the tava is sufficiently hot or not. When the water drops starts  cracking, rub the tava with a cotton cloth. Now with a big spoon, pour the mix dal dosa batter on the tava and use the same spoon for spreading the mix dal dosa batter into a round shape. Pour few drops oil or butter on the sides and in the center of the dosa. Now pour a spoon tomato-onion chutney on the dosa and use the same spoon for spreading into round. Now sprinkle 1-2 tbsp stir-fried  potatoes mixture. Press these with the spatula so that they get stuck to the batter which is getting cooked. Now flip and cook both sides a couple of times till crisp and brown. Serve it hot with onion-tomato chutney or coconut chutney and also with sambar.
