Steamed Modak recipe

Steamed Modak 
Om shri Ganeshay Namah 

Ingredients :

For the Modak cover,
  • 2 cups rice flour 
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp oil or 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1/2 tsp salt
For the filling,
  • 2 cups fresh grated coconut 
  • 1 cups sugar or grated jaggery  
  • 4 tbsp chopped dry fruits (raisin, cashew nuts, almonds)
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder 
  • 1 tbsp desi ghee
Method :
For the Modak cover,

Bring the water to a boil and add salt and oil or ghee. Now slowly add in the rice flour and stirring constantly so that no lumps form. Now cover and keep aside for 10 minutes. Now blend or knead the dough thoroughly.

For the filling,


Coconut mixture 

 Heat ghee in a pan, add the dry fruits and just add grated coconut and sugar or jaggery. Now cook over medium flame, starring occasionally. When the sugar or jaggery has melted and mix with the coconut. Now, add cardamom powder and mix well.

Now putting it together,

Take a small ball of dough and flatten it and place a spoon of the coconut mixture in the center and fold the edges together and seal. Repeat with the remaining dough. Now place them greased steamer pan and steamed for 10-12 minutes. Serve it chill.
