Homemade kesariya(saffron) Gulabjamun recipe

Kesariya Gulabjamun 

I made first time homemade kesariya Gulabjamun. This is a most popular Indian dessert, made from khoya, maida, kesar etc and sugar syrup. Homemade gulabjamun is very easy and in little ingredients used.

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup khoya or maawaa (I used homemade khoya)
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 tsp deshi ghee
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda 
  • 1 pinch of saffron(kesar)+1 tbsp warm milk 
  • 1/2 tsp green cardamom powder
  • Ghee or oil for deep frying
For sugar syrup,

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups water 
Method :
Soak saffron in milk for 15-20 minutes keep aside.
First making sugar syrup: In a large pan, combine the water and sugar and bring a boil. Let the syrup boil for 15-20 minutes. Now turn off the flame and keep aside. Now making gulabjamun: In a plate or large bowl, add all purpose flour, baking soda, cardamom powder, ghee and mix well. Add khoya or maawaa, saffron to make soft dough. Now grease your palms with ghee or oil knead the dough. Now divide the dough into about 18-120 equal parts and roll them into round balls.
Heat ghee or oil in a frying pan and add the gulabjamun balls and deep fry from the slow heat till golden in color. Now all fried gulabjamun add in the sugar syrup for 20-30 minutes before serving.
