Chhilke wali masoor (Whole lentils) dal fried recipe

Ingredients :

Masoor dal fry (whole lentils)
  • 1 cup whole lentils ( saboot masoor dal) 
  • 2 bowls water 
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste 
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 chopped green chillies 
  • 1/2 mustard seeds 
  • 10-12 curry leaves
  • 1 pinch asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1 tbsp oil or butter 
  • 2 tbsp fresh cream for garnish 
Method :
Soak the lentil dal for 6-7 hrs, then wash and drain all water. Now in a pressure cooker, add dal, water, salt, turmeric powder and cover it with lid and cook it 2-3 whistles and switch off the flame.  Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Now heat oil or butter in a pan, add mustard seeds and crackle, add  asafoetida, curry leaves, onion, green chillies and saute for 1 minute. Now add cook masoor dal and cook for 2 minutes and switch off the flame. Garnish with fresh cream and serve with rotis, paratha, rice.
