Split green gram (Chhilke wali moong dal) dal recipe

 Ingredients :
For dal :

  • 1 cup split green gram dal (chhilke wali moong dal)
  • 2 bowl of water
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2-3 kokum 
For tempering :

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 10 curry leaves
  • 2 dry red chilly
  • 1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
Wash moong dal with water. Now put them in pressure cooker, add water, split green gram dal, salt, turmeric powder kokum and cover it with lid and cook it for 8-10 minutes. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Now heat butter in a pan, add cumin seeds, hing, dry red chilly, curry leaves crackle and put in cooked dal. Serve with Rotis, rice.
