Masoor dal(Pink lentils) dal recipe

Cooked masoor dal
Ingredients :

  • 1 cup masoor dal(pink lentils) 
  • 2-3 bowls water 
  • salt to taste 
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 chopped tomatoes 
For the Temper:

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds 
  • 1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
  • 10-12 curry leaves 
  • 2 chopped green chilly 
  • 1 tbsp mustard oil or vegetables oil 
Method :
Wash masoor dal with water. Now put them in pressure cooker, add water, dal, turmeric powder, salt, chopped tomatoes and cover it with lid and cook it 1 whistle and remove from the gas and keep aside. After 10 minutes for the dal tempering, heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, asafoetida, chilly, curry leaves. When they all crackle and put in the cooked masoor dal and just cover with lid. Serve hot dal  with rice and rotis.
