Toovar-Urad mix dal(special) dal fry

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup toovar dal
  • 1/2 cup split black gram dal
  • 2 bowls water
  • salt to taste 
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 chopped green chilly
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp deshi ghee
  • 10-12 curry leaves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 green cardamom 
  • 2 cloves
  • 1/4 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1/2 garlic- ginger paste
  • chopped coriander leave for garnish
Method :
Wash all dal with water. Now put them in pressure cooker, add water, dal, salt, turmeric powder, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and cover it with lid and cook it for 10 minutes. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chilly. When they all crackle, add chopped onion after 2 minutes add garlic-ginger paste after 30 second, add tomato puree, sugar red chilli powder saute for 2-4 minutes and add cooked dal and after 5 minutes remove from the gas. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with Rotis and Rice.
