Laal saag curry recipe (red spinach)

Cooked red spinach 

  • 1 bunch red spinach(laal saag) 
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp cornflour+1/2 bowl water mix
  • 2 tbsp tamarind pulp or raw mango cubes
For the tempering :
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 dry red chilly
  • 1 tsp carom seeds(ajwain)
Method :
Cut and discard root, wash 3 times in water and finely chop red spinach. Now put saag in a pressure cooker and cover it. Cook on the heat until 1 whistle. Now allow the steam escape before opening the lid. Now add in saas salt, 1 bowl water, tamarind pulp mix and again cook on the gas for come 1 boil and add cornflour and stir regular for 5 minutes and remove from the heat. For the tempering, heat oil in a pan, add dry red chilly, carom seeds and crackle and transfer in the saag curry and just cover with lid. Serve with rice.
