Dal makhani recipe

Dal makhani is a very popular dish. This is Punjabi dish. It is smooth, creamy and tasty. Its flavour is very nice.
Ingredients :

  • 1 cup whole black lentil (whole Urad) 
  • 2 tbsp kidney beans(rajma)
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup fresh cream
  • 2 chopped green chilly
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 12-15 curry leaves
  • salt to taste
  • 4 green cardamom 
  • 4 cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp fresh cream for garnish
Method:
Wash and soak whole black lentil and kidney beans overnight. After drain all water, add 3 cups of water, salt and turmeric powder and pressure cook for 10 minutes. Now allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Now heat butter in a pan and add cumin seeds,cinnamon sticks, cloves,curry leaves when the all whole masala crackle, add the chopped green chilly and chopped onion and saute for 2 minutes. Now, add ginger-garlic paste, red chilly powder,garam masala and saute for 1 minute and add tomato puree and cook over medium flame till the mixture leaves oil. Now add the cook dal approx 1/2 bowl water and cook for 10-12 minutes. Now add the fresh cream and mix for 2-3 minutes and remove from the heat and garnish with fresh cream. Serve with jeera rice, rice and rotis.
