Toovar aur Moong mix dal recipe

Ingredients :

  • 1/2 cup toovar dal
  • 1/2 cup yellow moong dal 
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste 
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 chopped tomato 
  • 2 bowls water
Tempering for dal :

  • 1 tbsp deshi ghee
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 dry red chilly
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 pinch asafoetida( hing)
  • chopped coriander leaves for garnish
Method :
Heat oil in a pan, add both dals and stir-fry for 5 minutes. Now in a pressure cooker,add dals, 2 cups of water, salt, turmeric and chopped tomato and cover it with lid and cook it for 10 minutes. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, dry red chilly, bay leaves and hing. When they all crackle, add cooked dal and remove from the gas. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it with Rice and Rotis.
