Spinach with urad dal(palak aur urad dal)

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup split black gram( safed Urad dal)
  • 1/2 bunch chopped spinach(palak)
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1+1/2 bowls water
For Tempering,
    • 2 tbsp oil
    • 1 chopped green chilly 
    • 1/2 tbsp grated or chopped ginger
    • 2 cloves chopped garlic
    • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
    • 7-8 curry leaves or 2 bay leaves 
    Method : 
    Wash Urad dal with water 2 times and put in a pressure cooker,add spinach, tomato,turmeric powder,salt and water and cover with cooker lid and put on the gas for 10-12 minutes. After the cooker has cool down  open cooker lid and heat oil in a pan and add cumin,garlic,ginger,green chilly and curry leaves cracked now, add  in to cooked dal- palak and after 5 minutes put out side the gas. Serve with Rotis and rice.
