Kadhi recipe(Bihari Kadhi)

Ingredients:

  • 1 litre butter milk 
  • 1 cup gram flour ( chana besan)
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds( jeera)
  • 2 bay leaves or curry leaves
  • 2 pinch asafoetida ( hing)
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds( saunf)
  • 2 cut green chilly
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp finely chopped ginger
  • 3 tbsp oil
For Tempering :

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1 pinch asafoetida ( hing)
  • 2 dry red chilly
  • curry leaves
Method :
All spices, salt,sugar and 1/4 glass water put in the bowl and keep aside. Take other bowl add gram flour and 1 glass water make a batter and batter keep aside. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin,mustard, fennel seeds,asafoetida, chopped ginger, bay leaves/curry leaves and green chilly crackle and add spices mixture saute for 1 minute now ,add  besan batter and just stir 5-7 minutes and add butter milk and stir them. Now after 10 minutes remove from the gas. Make tempering with 1 tbsp oil, curry leaves1/2 tsp red chilly powder,dry red chilly and hing in the kadhi. Serve hot or cool.
