Chawal ki kheer

Chawal ki kheer is a favorite of all Indian people. My kids loves chawal ki kheer. It is an all time favourite at our house.

Ingredients :

  • 200 gm. Basmati rice (new rice is best for kheer)
  • 2 liters full cream milk
  • 100 gm. sugar
  • 20-30 raisins (kismis)
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 8-10 chopped almonds (soak and peel) 
  • Few pistachio chopped for garnishing 
 Method :
Take rice and wash with water for two time. Now bring milk to boil on medium heat in a heavy bottom pan. Now add in the rice and the temperature will drop slightly and so you will need to wait and bring the milk and rice mixture to boil again and stir them and don't covered pan. After 30-40 minutes check kheer and your rice must be cooked. Now add sugar, raisins, cardamom powder in it stir and remove from the heat. Now garnish with chopped pistachio and almonds. Serve it cold or warm.
