Dahi Vada recipe


Ingredients :
  • 1 cup urad dal (split black lentils)
  • 3 cup whisked curd (dahi)
  • Salt, to taste
  • few curry leaves
  • Oil for frying 
  •  black salt for sprinkling
  •  roasted cumin (bhuna hua jeera) powder for sprinkling 
  • Tamarind (Imli ki) sweet chutney 
  • Nylon sev for garnishing 
Method :

Urad dal soaked for 4-5 hours and drain. Now in a blander add urad dal, salt, curry leaves and grind to a smooth paste using approx 4-5 tbsp of water. Heat oil in a frying pan and deep fry 4-5 vadas at a time till they turn light golden brown in colour from all the sides and drain on a plate. Now combine the curd, 1/4 tsp salt and 1 tbsp sugar in a large bowl, mix well and keep aside. Now, Take enough water in a deep bowl and soak the vadas in it for 5 minutes. Now squeeze out all the excess water from the vadas and add into curd mixture and keep aside for 15-20 minutes. Arrange 2-3 dahi vadas on a serving plate and top with a little cumin powder, black salt, 1 tbsp tamarind sweet chutney and sprinkle few nylon sev and serve immediately.
